Markets affected by price spiral : plethora of adulterated items

Delhi Government should open shops to sell essential commodities at concessional rates on Deepawali - Vijender Gupta

BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta has said that the rate of inflation has gone upto 10.6% on Deepawali festival which shows that the Central and Delhi Governments have completely failed and demanded the Delhi Government that it should make arrangements for setting up Fair Price Shop in entire Delhi so that the common man of Delhi may be able to celebrate Deepawali.

Shri Gupta told that there are reports of lakhs of tones of adulterated Mawa and other sweets being sold in Delhi.  The food adulteration department of Government is discharging its responsibility only by making statements on paper.  Delhi Government has not made any concrete arrangements for stopping the consignment of adulterated Mawa and sweets coming in Delhi.  On the occasion of this festival milk, Mawa, cheese, fruits, vegetables, dry fruits, biscuits, namkeen and branded gift packets are being sold at double rates in comparison with last year.

BJP demands that Delhi Government should immediately make arrangements for the sale of essential commodities at concessional rates at PDS shops and Mother Dairy booths in all nine administrative districts of Delhi so that the poor citizens may also celebrated this festival with happiness.  Due to increase of demand of goods the sale of adulterated and fake goods increase on the occasion of festival.  If Delhi Government will sell genuine goods at concessional rates then thousands of people shall be saved from falling ill by eating adulterated goods.

According to the Government data fruits have become costlier by 12.39%, milk and milk products by 10.8%, vegetables by 17.59%, fruits by 12.39%, food grains by 4.73%, rice by 4.2%, pulses 7.42%, onions 11.27%, mutton by 14.8% on the occasion of Deepawali.  It is surprising that the agricultural producers are not getting fair price at the wholesale markets of Delhi. The entire profit is being taken away by the touts and employees of the Government. Fruits & vegetables are being sold at 10 to 15 times of the rates of wholesale market.  In the mean time it has been learnt that the Reserve Bank is again trying to push up the inflation.  RBI Governor has again said about increasing the interest rates.  Due to this various items shall become more costlier in the market.
