Bungling of thousands of crores in the projects under JNNURM in Delhi

DEMAND FOR IMPARTIAL ENQUIRY INTO THE BUNGLING, JAIL TO THE GUILTY PERSONS

New Delhi, 30th Nov. Comptroller and Auditor General of India in its report placed in Parliament yesterday have completely exposed the claims of Congress to have developed Delhi with the help of JNNURM. CAG has said that under this mission 28 projects were to be completed in Delhi from the year 2005 to 2011 at the cost of thousands of crores but only four projects have been completed.

BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta has demanded the Central Urban Development Minister and the Lt. Governor of Delhi that he should order an impartial and transparent enquiry into failure of Government to complete the works on time and the corruption committed in these projects so that the guilty persons may be sent behind bars. Shri Gupta further told that the money spent on the projects has been recovered from the people in the form of taxes. The common man of Delhi should have benefited but the Government and its officials committed bungling in these projects.

CAG has stated that a new bridge over Yamuna near Wazirabad Barrage was to be constructed by 17th December, 2011 at the cost of Rs. 1087.40 crore but only 381.23 crore rupees have been spent on this project by May, 2012. The construction work of this project is very slow so that the cost of construction may be increased. The same way Over-Bridges and Under-Bridges were to be constructed on the Rail lines going out of Delhi. In Nandnagri such bridge was to be constructed at the cost of Rs. 102.86 crore by 20th April, 2011 but this project has not completed even after spending 108.19 crore rupees by July, 2012.

Flyovers at the cost of Rs. 253.22 crore were to be constructed at Africa Avenue, Aruna Asaf Ali Road, Vivekanand Marg, Purvi Marg by February, 2009 but these have not been completed as yet. Similarly, the progress work of flyovers at GT Road and Road No. 56 Apsara Border is very slow. PWD of Delhi Government benefited its favourite contractors and disregarding rules, laws and 1.52 crore rupees were paid to them. 1.5 crore rupees were spent on barricading work of only 2 lakh. Similarly bungling has been committed in the execution of 24 other projects.
