Notice by NTPC to suspend power supply to Delhi

Connivance between power supply companies and Government – VIJENDER GUPTA

New Delhi, 12th February. BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta has alleged that there is economic criminal connivance between the private supply companies of Delhi & the Government. He told that once again the NTPC has served notice to BSES & BYPL of suspending power supply from the midnight of 13th February because both these companies have not paid dues of about 272 crores even after issuing warnings again & again.

Accusing the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of misleading two crore people of Delhi he said that the Chief Minister very well knows about the dishonesty of power supply companies, corruption and deliberate delay in paying the dues to the NTPC. In place of solving the problem she has told the power supply companies in a public function yesterday in view of the elections to Delhi Legislative Assembly that the power supply companies should do any thing, to supply power to the people. By saying so she wants to get the sympathy the people whereas she knows that the power supply companies are at fault.

The power supply companies of Delhi are recovering about 12% extra in the name of fuel surcharge. Power tariff has already been increased by 22%. Now these companies are demanding the Government & DERC to hike power tariff by 22%. It is surprising that inspite of the decision of the Cabinet the Government has not ordered for CAG audit of the accounts of the companies. Government knows that the companies are earning profit of crores. After the orders of the High Court to get the accounts of the companies audited by the CAG the cabinet passed a resolution to this effect, but due to the connivance between Government and the companies, this has not been implemented as yet.

The companies are making various excuses to increase power tariff. They are not paying the dues of NTPC deliberately so that the Government may provide them economic assistance to save the Delhi from going into darkness. It may be mentioned that in December 2012 also NTPC had threatened the power companies of stopping power supply. At that time the problem was solved by making part payment. Now by creating fear about stoppage of power supply in East Delhi and South Delhi the companies are trying to pressurize the people Government, NTPC and DERC to allow them to loot the people.
