CAG report indicts Govt : Delhi BJP
Delhi
BJP today locked horns with Congress led Delhi Govt. over the CAG report tabled
by Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Sheila Dikshit on the last day of the assembly
session for the year ended 31st March 2011.
BJP Spokespersons Mr. Vijay Jolly, Dr. Patra &
Mr. Sanjay Kaul at joint press conference claimed that the report by Comptroller
and Auditor General (CAG) of India has indicted Delhi Govt. for various
financial losses. It is strange that the Delhi Govt. chose the last day of
Delhi assembly session to table the report. Sheila Govt. seemed afraid of a
public debate. And tabled the report in the assembly, after the expulsion of
opposition MLAs and half an hour before the house was adjourned sine die. Congress
Govt. can avoid a debate on its past performance. But can not wash away it sins
stated BJP Leaders Mr. Jolly, Dr. Patra & Mr. Kaul.
BJP demands that Delhi Govt. should own its failure for
: total revenue loss to the tune of Rs. 2019 crores, non utilization of Rs. 372.66
crore meant for development works in unauthorized colonies (only 26% spent
whereas 74% left unspent), Rs. 100 crore left un-spent on ordinary pensions, Rs.
80 crore remaining un-utilized for the Jhajjar power plant. The CAG report
indicted the govt. for under utilized subsidy for domestic LPG and less release
of grants for MCD reforms. It also revealed that Delhi govt. failed to identify
below the poverty line, nearly 56,000 families entitled for food subsidies
under Antyodaya Anna Yojana. Gol mal in mid day meal and computer education in
schools is also revealed. Delhi Jal Board headed by Chief Minister Sheila
Dikshit allocated Rs. 250 crore could barely spend Rs. 62.50 crores. This is
shameful. An example of paralytic governance in the capital stated BJP leaders
Mr. Jolly, Dr. Patra & Mr. Kaul.
BJP claimed that the recent budget session of Delhi
Govt. was a complete failure. BJP demanded discussion on 28 public subjects.
But only two were allowed. The Delhi Govt. surprisingly disallowed discussion
on scarcity of water & power shortage. On 5th June only law
& order discussion took place. And discussion on “Un-Authorized Colonies” was postponed to the last day due to
shortage of time. But on that day Congress had asked for two discussions on MCD
in order to nail the BJP but failed to do so in its haste to introduce &
pass the Delhi tax on luxuries (amendment) bill 2012 imposing tax on banquet
halls, health clubs, gyms & spas etc.
