Dear Sh.Neeraj Kumar,
It has been a matter of
immense pain that ten days after former flight attendant Geetika Sharma killed
herself, Delhi Police is yet to trace the key accused, former Haryana Minister
Mr. Gopal Kanda who happens to be a very powerful politician.
The entire case has cast
serious aspersions on the intentions and credibility of the Delhi police in
nailing down the accused. It is shocking that even after gathering a mountain
of evidences against Mr. Kanda he was allowed to flee. Such a situation could
have been avoided if timely action was taken by the authorities. The suicide
note clearly pointed to harassment and provocation by the accused, yet he was
not taken into police custody immediately. Instead he was seen appearing on TV
interviews and roaming free in the state capital. If the absconder is not
apprehended soon there is serious danger of him tampering with the evidence and
as a result jeopardizing the entire investigation.
This incident has led to a
serious trust deficit between the civilian population and the criminal
prosecution system of the country. Delhi BJP demands that the guilty must be
brought to book without any further delay and the bereaved family of the victim
is given justice.
With Regards,
(Vijender Gupta)

Sh. Neeraj Kumar
Commissioner, Delhi Police
