Notice issued to Sheila Dikshit for personal appearance in the defamation case

The Court of Metropolitan Magistrate at Saket has issued notice to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to personal appearance in the Court in connection with the defamation case in that Court. The next hearing in the case will be on 12th October, 2012. On this day the Chief Minister will have to personally appear and face the arguments of the Advocates of defendant.

Smt. Sheila Dikshit had filed a case of defamation against BJP Delhi Pradesh Shri Vijender Gupta in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Saket. In this case Shri Gupta and his Advocates regularly appeared in the Court, but the Chief Minister plaintiff in the case did not appear in the Court. Learned Advocates of Shri Gupta Shri Ajay Digpaul, Neeraj Kumar and Abhey Verma opposed the request of the Advocate of the Chief Minister in which she has requested for exemption from personal appearance.

The Advocates of Shri Gupta said that Smt. Sheila Dikshit has filed the complaint and hence she should appear personally on every date so that further proceeding in the matter can take place. The Metropolitan Magistrate exempted Chief Minister from personal appearance even after the arguments of the Advocates of defendant. The Advocates of the defendant took it seriously and complained to the District Judge R.K. Gaba in writing against the Metropolitan Magistrate.

On this date Metropolitan Magistrate Ms. Somya Chauhan has issued notice to the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to personally appear in the Court on 12th October, 2012 the next date of appearing.
