BJP to launch Election Campaign on 17th September, 2013

New Delhi, September 14: The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party today announced that it will formally launch the party’s election campaign for coming assembly polls on 17th September, 2013 at Talkatora Stadium through a massive rally of workers.

National BJP President Shri Rajnath Singh and Delhi assembly election in-charge Shri Nitin Gadkari will kick-start the election campaign in Delhi. Senior national leaders of the party, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Shri Arun Jaitley, National General Secretaries Shri Amit Shah, Shri Anant Kumar, shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Delhi election co-incharge Shri Navjot Singh Siddhu, Shri Syed Shahnawaz Hussain and Shri R K Sinha, Co-Incharge of Delhi election have been invited to address the rally.

Addressing a joint press conference, Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel and Leader of Opposition  Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra said, “A massive rally will be held at Talkatora Stadium on 17th September. That will mark the formal kick off of the party’s election campaign.”

Shri Goel said, “The BJP’s election campaign in Delhi will focus on a number of issues including inflation, power, water, corruption, lack of development in rural areas, unauthorized colonies, JJ clusters and slums. For this the BJP has started massive campaign through advertising and will release a booklet to this effect.

The party cadres will go to every household under the slogan, “Ghar, Ghar BhaJaPa” and explain to them the misdeeds of the Congress government in Delhi during the last 15 years. We will also offer new vision for Delhi on every issue.”

“While  we are working towards mobilising  support among all sections of society, our special focus is on the poor, the youth and  unauthorized colonies, JJ clusters, slums and rural areas."

"With announcement of Shri Narendra Modi as BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, the party will get a great boost especially among the youth as Shri Modi has a huge following among youth," he said.

Shri Goel further said, “The massive development in Gujarat in the last 14 years under Shri Modi’s leadership speaks volume about his capabilities as a strong administrator with vision and commitment. His popularity has only increased with the passage of each day and I believe that with the decision to declare him as a party’s prime ministerial candidate, BJP will enjoy huge advantage in the Delhi elections over Congress.”

The party is organizing a massive rally on 29th September, 2013 at the Japanese Park in Rohini  that will be addressed among others by Shri Modi, informed Shri Goel. With the formal launch of the election campaign by the BJP for Delhi assembly poll, the preparation for the September 29th rally has also begun. 5 lakh people are expected to participate in the rally. More than one lakh invitation cards have been printed only for the representatives of the RWAs, traders’ associations, social organizations and prominent citizens from various fields.

Elaborating further about Delhi BJP's election campaign, Shri Goel said, the BJP workers will organize prabhat pheris in the early morning in all 280 mandals across the city. The prabhat pheris will be attended by around 100-200 local residents including the RWA representatives in every mandal.

There will be public meetings and contact programmes at household level. The party already has 11,763 teams working at polling booth level.

Shri Goel will launch road-shows in village areas of Delhi from 18th September, 2013 so that the people of the rural areas of Delhi could assured that their concerns will be addressed when the BJP comes power after the Delhi assembly election. It will pass through every village and establish contacts with the panchayats.


BJP Delhi Pradesh has also got composed special songs for the campaign under the caption ‘Badlo Delhi’ which was played before the media.  Besides this, radio jingle have been prepared on price rise, power & corruption.  A video film is also been produced on the problems of Delhi and its solution which will be shown in all the 7 Lok Sabha seats of Delhi through one Video Rath each in the respective areas.
