New Delhi, 1st Sept. In a Press Release issued here today Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta has said that it seems that there is connivance between Delhi Government, DERC and Power Companies. Power Companies have submitted ARR in such way that the DERC agreed to the claim of power companies that they have incurred loss of 6 thousands crores rupees during the last two years. Shri Gupta told that this is a conspiracy to put economic burden on the people of Delhi. Hence he has demanded that until the CAG of India does not audit the accounts of power companies, the power tariff should not be increased.
Expressing his reaction to the increase of 22 percent in power tariff from today Shri Vijender Gupta told that due to the increase in power tariff every family of Delhi will become a debtor of about 30-40 thousand crore rupees. Only Rs. 1200 crores can be recovered during the seven months of this year whereas total arrear of about 10 thousand crore rupees is to be recovered. He told that the DERC had announced that the total loss of the 3 power companies till date is about 6069 crores. With the increase of 22 percent in the present year, only Rs. 1200 crores may be recovered. This way 4,870 crore rupees will remain to be recovered. As a result there is possibility of further increase in power tariff in near future. There are other costs also for which the power companies are trying to recover in the year 2011-12 from the consumers. The consumers will have to bear additional burden of 3700 crore due to actual revised tariff in the current year. It clearly shows that the power companies have planned for recovering arrear of about 10 thousand crores rupees from the people in the coming days.
Shri Gupta told that it is quite surprising that from the time of privatization, Delhi Government has been supporting the power companies and it has become customary for Delhi Government to support very anti people decision of power companies during the last 13 years. These companies have been using the assets of the former DVB and also utilizing the services of CISF and the electricity courts. The DERC approved the increase in power tariff without verifying the assets of power companies. The accounts of the Power Companies have been audited at the level of DERC, which cannot be called impartial. Last year the former Chairman of DERC had found after audit of the accounts that companies had earned profit about 6000 crore rupees. What happened within a year that the companies incurred loss of about 6000 crore rupees in place of profit of 6000 crores rupees.
