Goel calls upon Delhi’ites to set up new record for voting on December 4

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri Vijay Goel today expressed concern over use of unfair means by Congress party such as distribution of liquor, cash and gifts to influence the voters. Shri Goel met Delhi”s Chief Electoral Officer Shri Vijay Dev yesterday after he was physically assaulted by Congress goons in Model Town and apprised him of his concerns.

There are a number of sensitive polling booths and areas in the city which could be vulnerable and we have urged the Election Commission to make adequate arrangements to check any such attempts as BJP is in favour of free and fair elections.

“However we have strong reasons to suspect that our rivals are indulging in unfair practices which are not only unethical but also illegal. Attempts to bribe voters are condemnable and Election Commission should ensure that no such nefarious designs are successful. The BJP, as a responsible party is cooperating Election Commission and wherever we come to know about any such activities, the party activists are informing the authorities concerned. However, we would urge the authorities to act swiftly.”

Shri Goel further informed that in the case involving attack by Congress activists in Model Town on him and BJP candidate from this seat Shri Ashok Goel yesterday, an FIR has been registered.  This was a well planned physical assault in which vehicles carrying BJP leaders were damaged.

The Delhi BJP President said that there are enough reasons to believe that the Congress candidate from the area Kanwar Karan Singh was the mastermind behind this attack.

Shri Goel reiterated that the BJP will not be deterred by use of such unfair means by its rivals and it candidates will contest in the true spirit of democracy. Shri Goel also appealed all Delhi voters to come out and exercise their right to vote. “Voting is not only our right but it is also our duty and I am sure that Delhi will register a record breaking voting percentage and set an example for the rest of the country,” he added.

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party today condemned an attack in Model town on its party president Shri Vijay Goel  and BJP candidate from the same constituency Sh. Ashok Goel who is also the Delhi BJP’s treasurer.

The BJP has already informed the Election Commission about the sensitivity of certain polling booths in this constituency and despite that this attack happened, said Sh. Vijay Goel.

“This kind of violence is condemnable and it will not deter BJP in any way,” added Sh. Vijay Goel.

In addition to  a complaint filed to the Election Commission regarding the attack, the party has also demanded that an FIR should be immediately registered. In the complaint filed with the Election Commission Sh. Ashok Goel has informed that the attack took place this afternoon between 11:30 to 12: 30 pm.

Congress indulging in mudslinging, BJP to file a police complaint: Goel

n to stop derogatory campaign against Shri Narendra Modi despite   formal complaints. The party has also called upon all its cadres to counter the canards spread against it by Congress party and expose the misleading claims of Aam Admi Party.

In a statement issued today, the Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel said, “On Nov. 30,  derogatory pamphlets were distributed prior to Shri Narendra Modi’s rally.

In the past also this has been done and we had lodged formal complaint with the Election Commission but it still continues unabated. I do not see any visible action on ground in this regard and this has caused us deep anguish.”

“We are going to lodge a police complaint regarding this now and seek investigation. In gross violation of the poll guidelines, the print lines are missing on these pamphlets.  Such attempts are condemnable and show desperation of our rivals who have resorted to such undemocratic practices.”

Shri Goel  said, “Congress is not able to  get support from any quarter. Rallies by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi were a big flop with only handful of people being there. People are leaving Chief Minister’s public meetings in between and all surveys are pointing that Congress is trailing very badly. On the other hand Sh. Modi’s rallies are a huge success. All top leaders of BJP are drawing huge crowds. A desperate Congress is thus running mudslinging campaign now.”

Shri Goel also pointed out that the Aam Aadmi Party, which is actually “B” team of Congress, is making misleading claims about its support base. “Our party cadres have been directed that in the last leg of the campaign the half-truths of AAP must be exposed. AAp is the biggest violator of poll guidelines and it has made untenable and vague promises in its manifesto. Several of its leaders have been caught on camera agreeing to resort to unfair means and misuse their political clout.”

Shri Goel said, “The BJP candidates are focusing on positive agenda. While the party has successfully exposed the corruption and mismanagement of Congress, we have also presented a positive agenda for inclusive growth with a long term vision and plan.  People of Delhi have appreciated our positive approach and hence the BJP is heading towards a historic victory in Delhi assembly polls.”

THE COMMON MAN IS CONTESTING AGAINST CONGRESS IN DELHI NOT THE BJP-NARENDRA MODI

Today Shri Narender Modi addressed three rallies in Delhi starting with rally at CBD ground under Krishna Nagar Assembly Constituency which completely changed the atmosphere of the Delhi Assembly elections to be held on 4th December.  In his touching and enthusiastic speech he described about the sufferings of the people of Delhi during the last 15 years which was highly appreciated by the people present in the rally.  With his slogans “pahle matdan phir jalpan” he requested all the women of Delhi that they should serve break fast to the male members of the family only after checking the ink mark on their finger, the sign of voting.

Shri Modi said that on behalf of the BJP’s chief Ministerial candidate Dr. Harsh Vardhan I want to assure that BJP will provide honest, welfare minded, transparent and accountable government.  Entire machinery will be under e-governance system.  Like Gujrat, ‘One day governance’ will be implemented in Delhi also.  Under this program the problems of the people will be solved within a day and accountability will be fixed at every level.

He further told that after independence Congress has followed the policy of divide and rule. Its objective was only to grab power and enjoy it.  Congress has treated the common man as vote bank.  The result is that India lagged behind and many countries which became free after India have joined the group of developed countries.  Corruption and misgovernance became order of the day and Congressmen became rich and the people became poor.  He appealed to the people not to forgive the Congress for its sins and defeat the party in the assembly elections.

Shri Modi asked the people to raise their hands and tell which is the most neglected area of the Delhi?  The people replied in one voice that it is trans yamuna area.  He further said that he has never seen such atmosphere in any assembly election.  He has addressed meetings in Chhatishgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi and found that this time it is not the parties but the people are fighting election.  On the one side is are the people and BJP and on the other the Congress party.  This time Congress will not be able to mislead the people and the whole world knows that BJP is coming to power.

Praising former PMs Shri Murarji Daisai, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Shri Nurshimbha Rao he said that the Congress party did not learn from their good work.  Price rise could not be controlled by world famous economists like Dr. Manmohan Singh and Shri P. Chidambram.  Without naming Shri Kapil Sibbla he told that a central minister has illusions that he is the most intelligent person and others are not.  This minister has said that since migrants from poorvanchal have started eating vegetables, it has become costly.  Shri Modi asked have not the poor people right to eat vegetables ?

In the beginning of the rally Shri Arun Jaitley told that the results of Delhi Assembly elections will be surprising.  The results of 8th December will show that the Congress gets lesser number of vote then 1977 elections.  At that time it had secured 33 % votes but this time the result will be worse and Congress will lose power.

BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that the migrants work hard for the development of Delhi but the CM Sheila Dikshit treats them as burden.  She says that the crime has increased in Delhi and Yamuna has become dirty due to migrants.  Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that the son of Chief Minister Sheila Diksthi is MP from East Delhi and she had appealed the poorvanchalies to vote for her son because she was married in Uttar Pradesh and hence a poorvanchaly. But why her statement changes after winning the elections ?  Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that the people of Delhi have resolved to make BJP victorious and dislodge Congress government.

S/Shri Nitin Gadkari, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Vijay Goel, Shyam Jaju, Dr. Anil Jain,  Dushyant Gautam, Ram Niwas Goel, Alok Kumar, all the BJP candidates and senior leaders were present in this rally.

BJP is against power tariff hike, will reduce it by 30%: Goel

Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel today slammed the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) for initiating the process to hike power tariff in collusion with the power discoms. He said that there is no need to raise power tariff as the BJP is convinced that power tariff in Delhi can easily be slashed by 30%, which it will do when elected after the polls.

Shri Goel said, “The DERC is working in a doubtful manner to hike power tariff in Delhi. The consultants have been appointed and advertisement has been given for the purpose. The BJP strongly condemns this attempt to hike power tariff. The party is committed to reduction of power tariff by 30%, if elected.”

“The BJP has been raising the issue of transparency in tariff setting by the DERC and also the process of tariff determination which has been marred by various controversies. The fact that the Consultants appointed by the DERC were also either Statutory Auditors or were working for one or the other DISCOM constitutes a breach of trust on the part of the DERC. There is clear conflict of interests on part of the consultants,” Shri Goel said.

Shri Goel further said, “The DERC seems to be in a hurry to hike power tariff while the election is around the corner. Whatever policy decision is to be taken regarding revision of power tariff should be taken by the new government. But, the DERC’s action reflects collusion between the regulator, which seems to be acting at the behest of the Congress government and the private discoms.”

The BJP had raised the issue about 8 months ago, when Shri Vijay Goel along with Member of State Advisory Committee of DERC Shri Anil Sood and other experts met the DERC Chairman on March 23, 2013. The DERC Chairman then admitted that the regulator committed mistake in the appointment of the consultants and assured the delegation to rectify the mistake soon.

But, the advertisement released by the DERC on November 28, 2013 appearing in newspapers published from New Delhi shows a totally casual and careless attitude of the DERC. On one hand the DISCOMS are likely to submit the Aggregate Revenue Requirements (ARR) and on the other, it is extending the date for submission of Request for Proposal by the Consultants. This means the DERC is not at all ready to review the ARR and undertake the exercise of True-Up.

Strangely the DERC has also diluted the qualification criteria for appointment of consultants as per advertisement appearing on its web site, where the columns ‘Position in Current assignment and Rate/Day or week’ have been omitted by design to accommodate someone who did not qualify the earlier criteria set by the DERC. This raises serious concern on credibility of the DERC.

Congress has wasted public money on ill-conceived projects: Goel

Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel today lamented the fact that Delhi has deteriorated under the Congress regime while many other states like Gujarat progressed under BJP rule. Sh. Goel said this while addressing a public meeting at Agrasen Chowk in Model Town assembly segment along with Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Smt. Sushma Swaraj.

Shri Goel said, “While development in Gujarat under Sh. Narendra Modi has been acknowledged and lauded by several national and international bodies, Delhi has deteriorated and has been pushed backwards under the Congress regime. All the development in Delhi has taken place only on paper in the last 15 years. The Congress has lost the opportunity to take Delhi to prosperity because of gross mismanagement.”

“The Congress government has wasted public money on ill-conceived and superficial projects effecting scams after scams. The much hyped Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor fell flat the day it was inaugurated after spending crores of rupees. While the BRT corridor of Ahmedabad has been hailed for its efficiency by several international agencies,” Shri Goel said.

Shri Goel said, “Signature Bridge is another ill-conceived project undertaken by the Congress government. The estimated cost of the bridge was revised six times between 2005 and 2009 leading to huge escalation of cost. The CAG questioned cost escalation by Rs 672 crore. Rs. 1,131 crore-project was expected to be completed by the time of Commonwealth Games in 2010 but it is still under construction.”

Shri Goel further said, “The JJ Clusters in Delhi betray the real story of development under the Congress regime. The CAG has found that more than half of the population living in JJ Clusters don’t have toilet facilities on their premises and are forced to defecate in the open. The Congress government has not been able to provide even the basic civic amenities to JJ Clusters.”

The Congress party has been trying to mislead people by spreading misinformation about development in Delhi under its regime. Despite its small size, Delhi has performed miserably in terms of growth rate of gross domestic product, in comparison to bigger states like Gujarat. The position of Delhi in terms of GDP growth rate in the last few years has been given below:

a)          In 2005-06- Delhi was on the 18th position;
b)          In 2006-7 on 9th position; in 2007-8 9th position;
c)           In 2008-9- 12th position;
d)          In 2009-10 17th position;
e)          In 2010-11 18th position; and
f)           In 2011-12- 15th position.

On the other hand, the Planning Commission has showered lavish praise on the BJP ruled Gujarat for the development work undertaken in the state. Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia recently said ‘Gujarat is one of our better performing States. In terms of economic growth, we have noted that the performance has been good in Gujarat. The State has raised a number of issues on which the Central government should act; like slow decision making, faster action for better development.’
