- Property tax on industries reduced by half in BJP ruled MCDs
- Goel writes to MCDs for waiver of penalties on conversion charges
New Delhi, June 11. The Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel today announced that he has asked the three MCDs ruled by the BJP not to charge any conversion charges for conversion of properties into commercial properties in the Special Area Zones.
This would provide relief to thousands of establishments in Special Area Zones in the city that includes busy commercial hubs like Chandani Chowk, Karol Bagh, Sadar Bazaar etc. A large part of walled city is covered under this.
Further, keeping its promise to provide relief to the industries on the issue of property tax, the Delhi Bharatiya Party President Shri Vijay Goel also announced that the BJP ruled Municipal Corporations of Delhi have decided to bring down the property tax in industrial areas from 20 per cent to 10 percent.
A few days ago, Shri Goel had met representatives of industrial areas along with the leaders of the three MCDs as well as standing committee chairpersons to discuss their problems and assured them that the property tax on these areas would be reduced. The meeting was held under the aegis of Apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry of MCD and Delhi.
“We have kept our promise, however, I would like to ask Congress government what has it done to provide the relief to thousands of industrial units in Delhi. There are 28 industrial areas where the Delhi Govt’s undertaking DSIDC is charging Rs 10 per sq metre for maintenance but there is complete failure to build and maintain any infrastructure. The roads are in dismal condition and so are other facilities.”
The industrial unit owners have long been demanding that their plots should be converted from leasehold to freehold. The Congress government has failed to meet this demand. The industrial unit owners have been feeling harassed and the Delhi government has turned a deaf year to all their demands.
“The BJP is committed to conversion of leasehold plots into freehold when it comes to power. We will also ensure better infrastructure and an industry-friendly regime,” Shri Goel said.
“We are in favour of allowing licenses to run the industrial units from the first floor of the factories also which is not permitted right now,” said Shri Goel.
“The BJP is committed to better infrastructure in industrial areas and liberalisation of licensing norms. This would provide a relief to industrial units . The owners and workers of these units feel harassed under Congress government’s rule due to its anti-industry policies,” said Shri Goel.
In addition to providing relief on the property tax, the Delhi BJP President has also written a letter to the three MCDs for waiving off the penalties imposed on conversion of residential properties into commercial properties .
Shri Goel informed that he has also asked all the three MCDs to form trade Licensing Comittees which implement a trader friendly license regime so that common people can have relief.
