Goel slams Congress govt. for inaction to bring down onion prices

·        Goel slams Congress govt. for inaction to bring down onion prices
·        Advice on onions from Maharashtra CM exposes inefficiency of Delhi CM: Goel
·        BJP takes up issue of onion crisis at booth level to expose Congress govt.’s inaction

Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel today slammed the Delhi government for its inaction despite soaring prices of onions in the city while the vegetables are vanishing from common man’s plates. He said that the advice from Maharashtra Chief Minister to Delhi Chief Minister exposes the inefficiency of the Congress government.

The Maharashtra CM had advised Delhi CM to buy onions directly from Nasik to control prices in Delhi. But the onion prices continue to soar indicating no action has been initiated on ground.

Addressing party workers of the Outer Delhi district, South-West district and Keshavpuram district, Shri Goel said, “The party will take up the issue of onion crisis at booth level in all 14 BJP districts. The BJP will expose the inaction of Congress government on the issue of onion crisis and rising prices of essential commodities over the next few days.”

Shri Goel said, “The Congress government is doing nothing on the ground to bring down the prices of onions and other vegetables in Delhi. It is only paying lip service and taking cosmetic measures to pile up on common man’s woes. For several months people of Delhi have been suffering due to unprecedented increase in prices of onions and other vegetables in the city.”

Shri Goel said, “The Congress government was in deep slumber even though another state government suggested it a few days ago to purchase onions from Nashik and sell in Delhi to reduce prevailing prices. The government must explain why did it not act on its own earlier?”

The Congress seems to be in the business of window-dressing over the issue of rising prices. Earlier, it claimed to sell onions through government’s outlets, which vanished much before they were officially closed by the Congress government. Those invisible outlets benefited none among the masses.

Shri Goel further said, “The Congress government claimed that onions are sold through Safal outlets. But, for a population of over 1.67 crores in Delhi, there are only about 350 Safal outlets, which is grossly insufficient. It has been a common experience that whatever onions arrive at these stores, it vanishes within an hour or so and even the quality of onions is bad."

Moreover, even the Safal outlets are selling onions at a price around Rs. 65-70 a kg, which is unaffordable for common man in Delhi. Other vegetables are also in the high pricing zone with none of the regular vegetables available below Rs. 50 a kg in retail markets in Delhi. Even potatoes are selling around Rs. 40 a kg. The festival season is around and the prices of these vegetable are not showing any trend of decline and the Congress government is completely insensitive.

BJP slams Congress ministers for using unparliamentarily language

·         BJP slams Congress ministers for using unparliamentarily language
·         PDS Loot: BJP demands resignations of Chief Minister, Food and civil supplies minister
·         PDS expose reveals food security scheme is a façade to fill coffers of few : Goel
·         PDS expose makes even a stronger case for Accountability Commission : Goel

Delhi BJP General Secretaries Smt. Shikha Rai, Shri Ramesh Bidhuri and Shri Jai Prakash today lambasted the Congress Ministers for using derogatory and unparliamentary language for Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel.  The use of such unparliamentary language is coming out of Congress’ frustration and inability to respond to the issues raised by the BJP. The BJP had raised 15 questions on Sunday which has clearly rattled Congress.

In a joint statement, the three General Secretaries said, “The uncalled for use of derogatory and unparliamentarily language by the Congress Minister of Delhi for Delhi BJP President shows the panic that has set in the Congress  as the groundswell of support for BJP in Delhi is quite visible. The Congress is losing ground in Delhi but the Ministers of Delhi Cabinet are not able to come to the terms with the changing reality of Delhi’s mood ahead of the Assembly polls.”

Meanwhile the Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel slammed the Congress government for “cosmetic surgery” to hide the ugly face of corrupt PDS in the city.  The Food and Civil Supplies Minister should be immediately sacked and the Chief Minister should step down. The food security scheme is actually a farce where poor are duped and vested interests are filling coffers by selling foodgrains meant for poor in open market in a systemic and massive scale”

A sting operation by a channel has cemented the BJP’s charge that the foodgrains meant for the poor are not reaching them.

“It is clear that without support from the top echelons of administration, this massive loot wouldn’t have been possible. So, mere suspension of half a dozen middle or junior level officials won’t do. The sting operation has clearly exposed that the rot in the system is from top to bottom. We have been raising this issue for the last several years and in 2008 I had demanded a CBI inquiry into the corruption ridden PDS. We stand vindicated today once again after the latest expose.”

It may be mentioned here that even the CAG, in its latest report, has slammed the Delhi government for causing a scam in Delhi’s PDS. The CAG observed that the food distribution chain of Delhi is rotting and held Delhi government responsible for it.

Shri Goel said, “Now, one can understand why Congress is opposing BJP’s proposal for an Accountability Commission. All such scams would be unearthed through the Accountability Commission and Congress ministers and corrupt officials who helped them in looting Delhi would be taken to task including the Chief Minister.”

“But the BJP is committed to set up an Accountability Commission and fix all the corrupt elements in Delhi government when it comes to power,” reiterated Shri Goel.

Famous Cartoonist, former legislator and Congress leader, corporate leader join BJP

·         Famous Cartoonist, former legislator and Congress leader, corporate leader join BJP
·         Prominent Muslims support BJP’s agenda of “Corruption-free Development” for Delhi
·         NSSO data shows Muslims lag behind in economic growth, govt. jobs in Delhi

Famous Cartoonist Shri Haneef Azhar, leading corporate personality Shri Azhar Yusuf, Faizal Yusuf and former MLA Shri Karan Yadav, Smt. Rajesh Yadav and members of Poorvanchal Gan Parishad Delhi Pradesh alongwith various members of Muslim community among which are some prominent Advocates and intellectuals from various fields were among many who joined the BJP today in presence of Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel.  Delhi BJP Minority Morcha President Shri Atif Rashid was also present on the occasion.

After welcoming those who joined the BJP today at Delhi BJP’s headquarters at Pandit pant Marg, Shri Goel said, “The Congress government has done nothing for the Muslims during the last 15 years in Delhi except paying the lip service.”

According to NSSO data, Muslims face high levels of poverty in Delhi. It says that 31% Muslims live below poverty line in Delhi. Only 23.7 % Muslims are in Government Jobs and 6.5 % in private Jobs in Delhi.

Urdu the second official language of Delhi but still, no State Government Department has an Urdu translator. Urdu medium schools in Delhi have a total of 90 seats out of which only 32 are filled. The rest 52 are lying vacant. Not a single Urdu medium school has been established since 1998.

The government has also allowed and at times indulged in encroachment of the Wakf Properties. Out of 685 encroached Wakf properties in Delhi, 158 are encroached by ASI, 373 have been encroached by the public while 114 by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). 26 other Wakf properties are held by different government agencies. If the Wakf Board is managed well it can generate sufficient funds to fulfil development needs of the community.

According to the 1970 gazette notification, 488 Muslim graveyards existed in Delhi. However, as of now, there are only 25-30 graveyards that are actually operational. There is scarcity of burial ground for the community.

“The Muslims can see through the double-speak of Congress.  There is a growing support among Muslims for BJP’s agenda of “Corruption-Free Development” in Delhi.”

Shri Goel further said, “People from various sections of society are joining hands with the BJP as it is the only viable alternative to replace Congress in Delhi.”

Shri Goel welcomed the return of Shri Yadav to BJP fold. The latter was with the Congress since 2008.

The BJP has seen several leaders from across the socio-political spectrum joining the BJP in last few days. Last week itself, several leaders from the Congress, the Janata Dal (United), the BSP and Independent Councillors, apart from noted Bhojpuri singer and actor Shri Manoj Tiwari joined the BJP. Earlier, senior NCP leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri along with sitting NCP Councillors Shri Dharamveer Awana, Smt. Timsy Kasana, Smt. Phoolkali Narwaal joined the BJP. This was preceded by seven Councillors joining the BJP in July. They were Suresh Garg, Krishna Kumar Sehrawat, Pramod Tanwar, Rahul Prabhudayal, Chander Prakash, Pradeep Kumar and Naresh Balyan.

These developments capture the prevailing mood of the people in Delhi clearly showing that there is a groundswell of support for the BJP for the Delhi assembly elections.

Several leaders from Cong, JD-U, BSP and Independent Councillors join BJP

·         Several leaders from Cong, JD-U, BSP and Independent Councillors join BJP
·         Leaders joining BJP shows there is a wave in BJP’s favour in Delhi: Goel

Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel today facilitated entry of several leaders from Congress, Janata Dal (United), BSP, and independent Councillors into the BJP. This reflects the popular mood in Delhi in favour of the BJP, which is all set to unseat the Congress party from power.

Those who joined the BJP today included the former Chandni Chowk District Congress Committee President and Councillor Shri Amod Sharma, Municipal Councillor from Mukundpur Ward of Lok Janshakti Party Shri Gulab Singh Rathor, Independent Councillor from Tigadi Ward under Deoli assembly constituency, Smt. Sarita Garba, Shri Farid Shah, who contested the municipal corporation election from Jahangirpur-2 and who was the Delhi State General Secretary of the Bahujan Samaj Party, and Janata Dal (United) Delhi State General Secretary Shri Kapoor Chand Chhikara.

Welcoming these leaders, who joined BJP unconditionally, Shri Goel said, “Coming into the BJP’s fold by these leaders makes it obvious that there is wave in favour of the BJP in Delhi. People from all sectons of society and political parties are joining the BJP in order to teach Congress a lesson.”

Shri Goel further said, “The BJP will be strengthened with the entry of these leaders. The entry of the leaders from weaker sections of society and Muslim community shows that these sections of society are reposing their faith in the BJP, whose acceptance has been fast growing among these communities.”

The BJP has seen several leaders from across the political spectrum coming to its fold in recent times. Earlier this week noted Bhojpuri singer and actor Shri Manoj Tiwari joined the BJP. Prior to this, senior leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri along with sitting NCP Councillors Sh. Dharamveer Awana, Smt Timsy Kasana, Smt Phoolkali Narwaal joined the BJP. This was preceded by seven Councillors joining the BJP in July. They were Suresh Garg, Krishna Kumar Sehrawat, Pramod Tanwar, Rahul Prabhudayal, Chander Prakash, Pradeep Kumar and Naresh Balyan.

This trend reflects people’s growing belief that the BJP is the only credible alternative to the Congress party, which has structurally misgoverned the city during its tenure.

BJP to ensure better employment opportunities, improved living conditions for Purvanchalis in Delhi

·         BJP to ensure better employment opportunities, improved living conditions for Purvanchalis in Delhi
·         Delhi Chief Minister has hurt pride of Purvanchalis, will get befitting reply
·         Chhath will be declared public holiday, by BJP Govt: Goel

The Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel today said that the party will take concrete steps, when voted to power, to restore the pride of Purvanchalis living in Delhi and improve the living conditions while ensuring overall development for them.

Addressing a press conference, Shri Goel said, “The BJP will declare Chhath a public holiday in Delhi, when elected to power and most importantly restore the dignity and pride of the Purvanchalis living in the city. The present government has created a sense of alienation among the Purvanchalis and hurt their pride during its misrule in Delhi.”

Shri Goel said, “The Purvanchalis living in Delhi are part and parcel of the city but they have been completely neglected by the successive Congress governments. The well-being and a life of dignity of Purvanchalis are essential for the well-being of the city of Delhi. When it comes to power, the BJP will ensure that the Purvanchalis get their due.”

Shri Goel said, "Lack of affordable housing for them have pushed a large section of purvanchalis to live in JJ clusters, slums and unauthorised colonies."

As a result of the total neglect by the Delhi government, the problem of employment is hurting the community the most. A large section of them is employed in informal sector or as informal labour force in organized sector, contributing immensely in sustaining the lifeline of Delhi.

While they have contributed in the growth of Delhi, the Delhi Chief Minister has looked upon them with contempt terming them as burden on the resources of the city. She has even blamed them for rising incidents of crime in Delhi.

In April, 2012, the Delhi Chief Minister blamed violent crimes against women on Purvanchali migrants, saying, "What are the reasons that we understand... is the huge migratory populations and very porous borders. You can come into Delhi, commit a crime and just run back again..."

The Delhi Chief Minister has never apologized for her shocking statement nor has she taken her words back acknowledging her mistake. This betrays her ideals of governance.

Blaming migrant Purvanchalis for rising crimes in Delhi and branding them as criminals is apartheid. Delhi is a cosmopolitan capital city, receiving people from all over the country, who contribute to the life of Delhi.

"The purvanchalis will give a befitting reply to Congress for hurting their pride," said Shri Goel.

Key problems faced by the Purvanchalis in Delhi:
  • Affordable housing
  • A large majority of people of Purvanchali origin live in unauthorized colonies, which are not in focus of the administration vis-à-vis basic civic amenities like water supply, electricity connection, drainage, sewage, garbage disposal, hospital, access to PDS etc.Getting children enrolled in Delhi schools
  • Obtaining a ration card from Delhi government authorities
  • Getting an LPG connection
  • Getting a telephone connection
  • Getting an Aadhar card
  • Getting better jobs

Moral victory for BJP, Congress relenting under intense pressure from BJP on reservation in colleges : Goel

Congress govt bucked down under BJP’s pressure to give reservation to Delhi students in local colleges
Moral victory for BJP, Congress relenting under intense pressure from BJP on reservation in colleges : Goel
Congress in a state of panic after Vikas rally as youth support BJP overwhelmingly

The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri Vijay Goel today said that the BJP has scored a major moral victory on the issue of providing reservation in colleges to students passing from Delhi schools.

“We have been raising this demand for the last many years and our pressure has compelled the Delhi government to initiate this move,” said Shri Goel in a statement issues today.

“This is a major victory for the BJP’s long standing movement to provide reservation in Delhi colleges for students passing out of Delhi schools.”

Shri Goel said that there is ample evidence on the record that we have raised this issue for the last three years. The Congress had not shown any concern about this till now.  “In the past we have held demonstrations demanding reservation for Delhi students, we have also approached the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University and other authorities for the same.”

The Delhi BJP President has written to the VC of DU regarding this in the past (scanned copy of letter attached). The BJP had also released Delhi Declaration on June 24,“State of Higher Education” clearly raising  this issue.

“When we started raising this demand, Congress government did not respond but now after the Vikas Rally of Sept. 29, it realized that the youth of the city feel betrayed by the Congress government’s apathy towards them. Their overwhelming support to the BJP  in this rally and prior to that has come as a shocker to the Congress and as a last ditch effort it is trying to save the day prior to the assembly polls.”

15 Saal, 15 Sawaal

The point raised by Shri Narendra Modi in his speech that Delhi CM remains busy in only cutting ribbons is quite valid. There are a whole lot of projects (appended below) where ribbons were cut and lot of hype was created but hardly any progress was made. Several projects in health, transport and almost in every sector were inaugurated during Congress rule but either scrapped halfway or they continue to drag till now.

Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit should go back and check the facts before making any statement.

Key Points: Ribbons cut, promises made, people duped !

1.  Super-specialty hospital at Dwarka- In November 2007 Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit promised a 750-bed super specialty hospital for Dwarka. The largest sub-city of Asia with a population of over 5 lakh people is yet to get a government hospital.

2. 12 New Hospitals- Delhi government had promised building 12 new hospitals with total bed strength of 2,900 but none of them is complete. The construction of hospitals in Dwarka (750 beds), Vikaspuri (200 beds), Madipur (200 beds), Jawlapuri (200 beds), Ambedkar Nagar (200 beds) is already much delayed.

3. 7 BRT Corridors- The present BRT between Ambedkar Nagar and Moolchand is not a BRT but a mess. International experts say that Delhi’s BRT lacks several important features — a closed BRT system with centralised management, fare collection before boarding the bus and integration with other modes of transport. While they questioned Delhi’s BRT, they praised BRT in Ahmedabad. Nevertheless, the Delhi government promised 7 BRTs while it has failed to manage even one.

4. Signature bridge- It was supposed to be completed before commonwealth games. - The deadline for this bridge has already been extended from December 2013 to June 2014 and then December 2014.The estimated cost of the bridge was revised six times leading to huge escalation of cost. The CAG questioned cost escalation by Rs 672 crore from Rs 459 cr to Rs 1131 crore.  The CAG also found irregularities in construction of the Signature Bridge at Wazirabad questioning import of pre-fabricated steel frames from China.

5.  Rajiv Ratna Housing Scheme - The Delhi government promised to make 60,000 houses for poor, but only about 14,500 houses have been constructed. No flat was allotted to poor. In its election manifesto, the Congress had promised 10 lakh dwellings for JJ clusters/slum dwellers!!

6.  Transport- The Congress government announced several transport projects, such as digitization of transport records (2002), modernization of DTC (2009) or GPS in auto-rickshaws (2010) but all are jammed in the pile of paper. All the projects are moving at snail’s pace.

7. Water- The Delhi government had promised to make Delhi self-reliant in water by 2010, still in 2013, the CAG says that half of Delhi does not get water from the Delhi Jal Board.

8. Resettlement of slum dwellers- 22 slums/Jhuggi bastis were destroyed to raise the commonwealth village for the corruption ridden CWG, 2010. A mere 20% of the population was relocated in Bawana, which is a deserted field with no public utility services in the periphery of Delhi. Rest 80% of the population of the 22 slums was left to fend for themselves in the streets.

9. Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board- Delhi govt. promised to relocate 5500 JJ households of 33 clusters by January 2012. Only 262 relocated till now.

10. Yamuna cleaning- More than Rs. 2400 crore has been spend by Delhi Jal Board and yet the Delhi govt.’s promise of a clean Yamuna is a distant dream. Instead, 22-km stretch of Yamuna in Delhi has become more polluted.

11. Munak canal- Despite spending Rs. 400 crore on Munak Canal in Haryana, the Delhi govt. has failed to get even a drop of water for the people of Delhi from the canal.

12. Power cuts - Areas badly affected by power cuts during 2013 summer: Vikaspuri, Punjabi Bagh, Najafgarh, Paschim Vihar, Dwarka, Matiala, Bindapur and adjoining areas, Green Park, Gulmohar Park, Anand Lok, Alaknanda, East of Kailash, Kailash Colony, Nehru Place, Masjid Moth, Kalkaji, Govindpuri, Amar Colony, Lajpat Nagar and adjoining areas, Rohini, Shalimar Bagh, Pitampura, Mangolpuri, Wazirpur, Krishna Nagar, Mayur Vihar, Shahdra, Seelampur, Dilshad Garden, Laxmi Nagar, Pandav Nagar and adjoining areas. So, practically the entire Delhi faced power cuts for hours this year itself.

13. Power cuts for industries- In May this year, Assocham lamented power cuts saying unscheduled power cuts in Delhi forced thousands of industrial units to curtail production by about 25 percent for April-May. It suspected loss of industrial production to exceed 40-45 per cent in June and July. The power cuts have affected Micro-, small- and medium enterprises (MSME) the worst in Delhi. Wazirpur Industrial area, Okhla Industrial area and industrial areas along GT Karnal Road were among the worst affected due to unscheduled and frequent power cuts.

14.  Crime against women- There has been an increase of 240% in rape cases, 495% in molestation cases and 700% in the cases of eve-teasing this year in Delhi. According to NCRB data, Delhi witnessed the highest incidence of crime against women in 2012 with 14.2% of the total crime in all the cities having above 10 lakh population. Delhi city has accounted for 19.34% of rape cases, 23.1% of kidnapping & abduction cases, 14.6% of dowry deaths and 10.9% of assault on women with intent to outrage her modesty cases. Of all the rape cases recorded in the 53 million plus cities of India, every fifth rape takes place in Delhi.

15. Crime against children- Delhi has also become the capital of missing girls and children. According to Delhi Police records, close to 3,450 children who went missing in Delhi in the last three years are yet to be traced. Girls account for 55 percent of the missing children.

15 साल, 15 सवाल

15 साल, 15 सवाल

After Vikas rally, galvanized BJP cadres to get down to assembly level campaigning

·         After Vikas rally, galvanized BJP cadres to get down to assembly level campaigning
·         BJP to focus on power, water, corruption, inflation, women safety
·         Goel expresses gratitude to Delhi’ites for making Vikas Rally historic success

After the grand success of Vikas Rally on September 29 at the Japanese Park in Rohini the Delhi BJP has decided to move on to the next phase of its campaigning to carry forward the momentum generated by this rally.

In a statement issued today, Delhi BJP President Shri Vijay Goel said, “The party’s assembly poll campaign would now move on to the assembly segment level. The BJP has identified five key issues to focus on in the coming days which are-Power, Water, Inflation, Corruption and Women’s safety.”

Shri Goel said, the BJP cadres will hold meetings in every assembly segment over the next few days and take these issues to the common people. Shri Narendra Modi who had addressed Vikas Rally on Sunday had also spoken on these issues.

“The Congress is in a state of panic following the success of Vikas Rally. In fact it is very scared as the writing on the wall is clear that all sections of society have joined together hands to boot out the corrupt Congress party whose policies are anti-people.”

Expressing his gratitude to Delhi’ites and all BJP cadres, Shri Goel said, “The party is buoyed by the fact that large number of people from those sections attended the rally yesterday which till mow were not considered to be traditional BJP voters in the city.”

The presence of large number of people from Muslim community, youth and weaker sections of the society in this rally is a clear evidence that people have at large lost faith in Congress.

Shri Goel also slammed the Congress leadership for putting up some hoardings and posters which were in bad taste, a night before the Vikas rally. “In its desperation to cling to the power, Congress has resorted to cheap tactics. This is deplorable. The Congress is using its dirty tricks department and is stooping down to new lows.”
