BJP delegation meets Delhi Police Commissioner on the issue of women security



New Delhi, 2nd August.  BJP women delegation led by Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta met the Special Police Commissioner on the issues of women in Delhi.  The Special Police Commissioner (Security) Shri Ranjit Narain listened to the woman delegation attentatively and talked to them for more than half an hour.  The woman delegation told the Commissioner that besides being workers of political party they are also part of civil society and they should be seen in this light.
            BJP National Secretary Arti Mehra told that the Police did not have any special plan or system for solving the security problems of women.  The conduct of the police is also insensitive towards the women.  National Secretary Vani Tripathi suggested that a workshop should be organized to discuss about the security problems of housewives, working women, students etc. in which suggestions may be given how to solve the security problems of women. She further said in the meeting with the Commissioner our organization is always ready for any kind of assistance required if required by Delhi Police for the execution of effective women security strategy and to rebuild the faith of women on Delhi Police. She also raised objection on the recent advice issued by Delhi Police for women in Delhi.
            BJP Delhi Pradesh Vice President Vishakha Sahilani was of the view that the Police should create confidence among the women that they are safe.  If any crime is committed against them then the Police should act promptly and take stern action.  Pradesh Vice President Poonam Azad suggested how the Police should act in the cases related to the women working in call centres and a plan should be framed by the Police for the protection of drivers of Public transport during night hours.
            BJP Mahila Morcha National Vice President Meenakshi Lekhi told that the Police should take concrete steps to create confidence among the women so that they may feel safe in their houses, offices or colleges. Reacting to the advice of the Police Commissioner that the women should not go out in the night hours, BJP Mahila Morcha President Shikha Rai said that due to this woman have been discouraged and specially working women are feeling unsafe. 
            In the end of meeting Special Police Commissioner admitted that the suggestions of women delegation were very good and he will sympathetically consider it.  Urmil Chaudhary, Simmi Jain, Kamaljeet Sehrawat and other women were also part of the delegation.
