BJP delegation led by State President Shri Vijender Gupta and Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Legislative Assembly Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra alongwith Shri Rameshwar Chaurasia, Mrs. Meenkashi Lekhi & Shri Atif Rasheed met the Election Commissioner of NCT at 11.00 a.m. and lodged protest and a memorandum was also submitted by the delegation appealing the Election Commissioner to initiate an enquiry and file an FIR for the prosecution of DPCC President Shri J.P. Aggarwal as he has indulged in corrupt practices. Criticising the recent objectionable language used by the Congress Pradesh President Shri J.P. Aggarwal in a public meeting in the MCD election campaign to harm the communal peace of Delhi on 2nd April at Jama Masjid which is also reported in the media (Times of India edition 3rd April, 2012 page no. 5). 

BJP Delegation explained to the Election Commissioner about the controversial remarks in the speech of Mr. J.P. Aggarwal (Congress leader), he said that ‘Muslim should not split their vote and weaken their influence. They are sensible enough to choose their leader. However, they must not allow split in votes’. 

BJP leaders termed Congress Pradesh President’s statement against the national integration which an further destroy the communal harmony and peace. This public statement is in violation of para-3 of the Model Code of Conduct issued by the State Election Commission and also described as a corrupt practice under section 22(3) of MCD Act. 

BJP delegation demanded filing of an FIR and prosecution of the Delhi PCC President, Shri J.P. Aggarwal under the said provision of IPC. The UT Election Commission should also consider restraining Shri J.P. Aggarwal from further participating in MCD Election Campaign. The delegation also requested to issue a show cause notice to the Delhi Pradesh President, Delhi Pradesh Congress Party seeking why the symbol allotted to that party should not be withdrawn.
