No action on the report of Shunglu Committee even after two & half years

Government is trying to weaken the constitutional institutions to cover up scams – Vijender Gupta

New Delhi, 16th January. BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta has expressed apprehensions that by failing to take action on the recommendations of Shunglu Committee formed by the Prime Minister to enquire into the bungling in Commonwealth Games, present Central Government is trying to weaken the CAG, CVC, DDA etc. institutions. Government wants that no constitutional institution may conduct impartial enquiry into the bungling and the Government may continue to commit scam.

Giving the example of the inability of the Prime Minister’s office to provide full information on this subject under rules & laws which was sought by the news agency PTI under RTI, Shri Gupta told that the Prime Minister had given assurance in the Parliament two & half years ago for impartial enquiry only to pacify the great hue & cry in the country against bungling in CWG. Shunglu Committee was formed under this assurance. This Committee was to submit its report within three months. The Committee submitted its six reports directly to the Prime Minister, but the PMO is avoiding any action on the recommendations of the Committee. It is obvious that the Prime Minister does not want any action on the bungling.

After enquiry into the CWG bungling of 70,000 crore rupees, the former CAG, V.K. Shunglu had recommended that there should be drastic changes in the structure and working style of Accounts department of Delhi Government, Vigilance Commission and the DDA so that the persons committing bungling may be held responsible. In place of taking action on these recommendations, the Prime Minister formed another high level Committee under the Chairmanship of Defence Minister A.K. Antony which had to submit its report earlier. Antony Committee has not submitted any report so far deliberately.

In the mean time it has been learnt that the Government is trying to make the CAG a multi member body and limiting the powers of CVC Commissioner so that the corruption, scam, anti people schemes may not be exposed. The Antony Committee is following the same and trying to delay its report.
