Delhi Government should provide free hold rights to 10 lakh residents of slum colonies and katras in Delhi

Delhi Government should provide free hold rights to 10 lakh residents of slum colonies and katras in Delhi

BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta has demanded from the Chief Minister of Delhi that she should get a resolution passed in the Legislative Assembly to provide free hold rights to 10 lakh residents of 42 slum clusters and katras spread over in 13 Assembly constituencies of Delhi because these people are hoping for ownership rights for the last many years.

It may be mentioned that the refugees who came to Delhi after the partition of India and Pakistan were temporarily settled in the rehabilitation colonies.  At present 42 such colonies are existing in Delhi.  The population of the families living in these colonies has increased about five times during the last decades.  Their demand is that they should be provided free hold rights on the places where they have been rehabilitated so that their family members may live a peaceful life.

Recently Delhi Government has announced that lakhs of Scheduled Caste people of Delhi will be allotted pucca houses free of cost.  In this situation the hope of the people living in rehabilitation colonies has become more firm that since they are living in Delhi for decade hence firstly they should be given free hold rights because it has been pending for years.

The roofs of many of the houses in the slum clusters have cracked and the lintels have also collapsed. The plasters of the walls are also falling.  These houses are in delipidated condition and can collapse at any time and the people living in these houses putting their lives at stake.  People of the Katras are living in hellish conditions and endangering their lives.  Recently a building had collapsed in Darya Ganj in which 7 people died on the spot and about 27 people were injured.  Such incident may also happen with the people living in slums and katras at any time.

Pradesh President told Delhi Government that it should conduct a comprehensive survey of all the rehabilitation colonies and katras within 90 days and prepare a list of the people living in them and also provide them free hold rights so that they may also undertake reconstruction work and live peacefully in Delhi.
