One year after the Common Wealth Games

No gain to Delhi from the Games - Vijender Gupta

On the completion of one year after the closing of CWG, BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta has said that the people of Delhi did not gain any thing from the organisation of CWG in the capital.  70 thousand crores spent on the Games was a wasteful expenditure.  The adverse effect of the Games on Delhi was that the price of properties in Delhi started touching the sky and it became a dream for the common man to purchase a house in Delhi.

It may be mentioned that on the 3rd October last year the CWG were opened in Delhi.  These Games ended with a closing ceremony on the 14th October.  The youth and the peoples in Delhi were expecting that after the Games, Delhi will be known as capital of international sports.  Here the youth will get facilities for preparing for the Games by using the equipments and stadia and they will be able to make India proud. But nothing happened like this because the organisers of the Games, the Central and Delhi Congress Governments changed the Games into the festival of loot.   This is the reason why many high profile persons connected with the Games are in Tihar Jail for committing corruption in CWG.
Even after one year the work of beautification of Connaught Place, the heart of Delhi is not complete.  About 700 crore rupees have been spent on this work, but still Connaught Place is full of pot holes.  Delhi Government and the organising Committee had claimed of planting 30 lakh sapling in entire Delhi.  Today these plants have disappeared.  All the 12 stadia were renovated after spending thousands of crores. Within a year grasses have grown on these stadias and these are locked out.  The sports lovers of Delhi and the youth are highly disappointed because not able to use them.

Under the leadership of ChiefMinister Sheila Dikshit bungling of thousands of crores in the name of Games was committed disregarding the rules.  The P.M. appointed Shunglu Committee and the CAG submitted separate reports to the Prime Minister.  Questions were raised on the role of the Head of Delhi Government Smt. Sheila Dikshit.  The Prime Minister and Home Minister have not taken any action on any of committee reports which were given the job to detect corruption in CWG.  In the name of taking action only small players have been sent to jail.  The big players are roaming free. The people of Delhi have lost their trust in the Congress Government.  People want to get rid of this Government soon.
