BJP LODGES FIR In I.P. Estate P.S. against connivance between SHEILA DIKSHIT AND POWER COMPANIES

Delhi BJP lodged a complaint in Indraprastha Estate police station against Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, two members of DERC and other officers for preventing the DERC to decrease power tariff under a criminal conspiracy by Delhi Government and power companies.

Under the leadership of BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta a group of BJP leaders assembled at Vikas Minar ITO and proceeded to the Police Station and filed a complaint against Chief Minister, Energy Secretary S.M. Ali, Reliance Power CEO Jairam Prasad Chalsani, DERC Members A.R. Sethi, Shyam Vadhera and top officers of all the three power companies and provided proof of the connivance to the SHO. The BJP delegation was assured of filing the case and action against the guilty persons by the SHO. The complainant Abhey Verma filed the FIR on behalf of the BJP delegation.

The complainant Abhey Verma told that the DERC was to fix the tariff for the year 2010-11 for all the three power supply companies of Delhi. With the majority of DERC Chairman and one member a decision was taken to reduce power tariff. The new reduced power tariff order was to be issued by the DERC Chairman on 5th May, 2010. In the mean time under section 108 of Electricity Act Delhi Government directed the DERC not to implement the 23% reduction in power tariff.

This case remained pending for about year between the court, DERC, Delhi Government and the three power companies due to which the consumers of Delhi could not get the benefit reduced power tariff. Delhi High Court also sought the opinion of AG in this case who advised that the Government has no powers to issue directions to DERC.

The then Chairman of DERC Brijender Singh retired and new Chairman P.D. Sudhakar took charge. He issued orders to increase power tariff by 22% in place of cut in power tariff. BJP claims that there is connivance between Delhi Government and the three power companies and hence the people of Delhi are being burdened with increased power tariff whereas the companies are in profit. This can be confirmed by CAG audit of the accounts of companies.

The delegation included SarvaShri Vijay Goel, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Mange Ram Garg, Ramesh Bidhuri, Abhey Verma, Vivek Sharma, Vishakha Shailani, Shikha Rai etc. leaders.
