OPEN DISCUSSION ON THE MASTER PLAN OF DELHI IS NECESSARY

CONGRESS GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBLE FOR SHORTCOMINGS IN MASTER PLAN – VIJENDER GUPTA

  

New Delhi, 11^th Nov.   BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta has said that in place of the development of Delhi the Central and Delhi Governments are trying to mislead the people on the issue of Master Plan. The Master Plan which had been framed by the Ministers of Congress Government has been termed as useless by the Urban Development Minister Kamalnath and framed sitting in a closed doors and should be cancelled. The intentions of Government on the issue of Master Plan are not good. Government is not serious about the development of Delhi. Congress Government is responsible for the shortcomings in Master Plan.

Congress Government is treating the people of Delhi in a unjust manner. In place of providing relief to the people, the process of sealing and demolition continues deliberately, so that there may be scope for corruption. Buildings and commercial establishments constructed 50 years ago are also the target of sealing and demolition whereas there was no Master Plan at that time. According to Government only 27 percent construction in the capital is authorized and the rest are unauthorized. This way entire Delhi may be demolished. The Master Plan which should have been framed in 2001 was framed in 2007 and has not been implemented as yet whereas 12^th five year plan is being implemented from 1^st April, 2012 in which new standards of the development of cities will be implemented.

He further told that BJP has always been of the view that the Master Plan 2021 has not been framed according to the requirements of the people. It has been framed for exploiting the people and creating legal complications so that the people may suffer and the Government may loot the people. This is the reason why even after five years the Master Plan has not been approved and implemented. So far 70 percent unplanned development has taken place in Delhi. Zonal plans have not been finalized. Since the Master Plans are not useful for Delhi hence illegal construction has increased in the capital. Congress Governments are fully responsible for it. Old buildings will have to be given relief from sealing and demolition.

Shri Gupta told that taking the statement of Urban Development Minister Shri Kamalnath seriously there should be wide discussion on Master Plan 2021. Master Plan should be made such that it does not create problems for the people and helps in the development of Delhi. For this purpose the town planners, experienced citizens, engineers of public and private sectors, politicians of all the parties, traders, industrialists should together frame long term master plan after serious discussion in this regard and it should be welfare and development oriented.
